Career Development Events


Meats Evaluation and Technology

In the Meats Evaluation and Technology CDE, students develop the skills needed for careers in the meat animal industry. During the event, members evaluate beef carcasses for quality and yield grade; identify various meat cuts and place carcasses, and identify wholesale and/or retail cuts.


Agriscience

The FFA Agriscience Fair recognizes middle and high school students who are studying the application of scientific principles and emerging technologies in agricultural enterprises.


Veterinary Science

The Veterinary Science CDE provides opportunities for participants to develop technical knowledge and demonstrate practical skills in the field of veterinary science.


Farm Records

The Farm Record Book (AET) CDE teaches students several skills in managing farm and ranch records, learning about the legal management of farms, and how to properly record a SAE project in the AET.


Farm Power

The contest shall be designed to test a student’s mechanical skills and abilities relating to power equipment used in agriculture, and shall serve as a training forum for students interested in pursuing a career as an equipment technician.


Dairy Cattle Evaluation

The Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management CDE helps students develop skills in dairy cattle selection and herd management.  Participants evaluate the cattle’s physical characteristics, explain their various classes and analyze a herd record as a team.


Floral

The Floriculture CDE requires students to identify plants, judge flower arrangements and solve problems. Participants also demonstrate skills in flower arranging, propagation and the preparation of floral and foliage products for sale.


Cooperatives ?The Marketing event seeks to effectively prepare the students with the practices and operations of Agricultural Cooperatives.  Workers seeking careers in cooperative marketing must not only develop a high degree of knowledge and skill they must also develop the ability to solve difficult problems.  This event blends the testing of manipulative skills and knowledge required for careers in operations and marketing.
